a man lying in a hammockMarriott is getting in on the free night game from June 1st through August 31st, 2010, although with much higher restrictions.

Registration

You can register here.  Be sure and set your earning preference to points.

Details

Here’s all you have to do to begin earning your free hotel nights plus a Hertz car rental discount:

  • Stay at any of the more than 3,200 participating Marriott® hotels between June 1 and August 31, 2010.
  • Earn 1 free night after every 3rd paid stay (for a maximum of 2 free nights) + up to $50 off a Hertz car rental.
  • You must set your earning preference to points.
  • Valid redemption through December 31, 2010

Restrictions

  • Only category 1-4
  • Maximum of 2 free nights

Bottom line

Unless you are already staying at a Marriott or have a few category 4 stays booked before the end of the year, I would stick to the SPG, Hyatt, or even Hilton promotion over this one.

  1. Thanks for the heads up!
I’m not getting the same promotion detail.
Can they possibly change the promotion for each customer?
Following is what I see —
Earn 20,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights and an additional 10,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights – for a total of up to 30,000 bonus points + up to $50 off a Hertz car rental.

  2. You have both statements in this post “set your earning preference to miles” and “set you earning preference to points”.

The free night promotion terms state you must set your earning preference to points.

  3. And “free nights” is a targeted promotion as jolyuyo has seen. Some Marriott Rewards members are getting points bonus offers based on a set number of nights during the promotion period.

I received the free nights offer for my account.

  4. I got points when I registered – 20,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights (yeah, right, I’m going to stop staying at Hyatt and Starwood for that); 10,000 points if I make it to 20 paid nights.

20 paid nights would get me 4 free Starwood weekend nights (plus 12,000 AA miles) + 4 free Hyatt nights (and 27,500 AA miles)

The only way the Marriott program makes sense to me is to stay when the Hyatt and Starwood promotions end June 30 and July 31.

  5. I’ve updated the verbaige around points or miles. You will need to have points selected to see this promotion.

  6. Received the points only offer as well. Been a loyal Platinum Marriott customer for year, but going to try the Starwood promotion. You can beat it and Marriott needs to consider the free stay offer for top members and not exclude us.
