American Airlines introduced a Holiday 20% bonus when you purchase miles through AA’s site. You must purchase at least 6,000 miles to get the 20% bonus. With this promotion you are purchasing the miles for $.021 per mile. Buying 80,000 miles would cost you $1,650.

Transactions are nonrefundable and nonreversible. Please allow 72 hours for purchased miles to post to the designated AAdvantage® account. American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles will be posted 6-8 weeks after conclusion of promotion. Members must purchase 6,000 miles or more in a single transaction from the buyAAmiles® program or giftAAmiles(SM) program beginning 12:01 am CDT December 1, 2011, until 11:59 pm CST December 31, 2011, to be eligible for the bonus mile offer. Members will earn 2,000 bonus miles for every 6,000 miles purchased in a single transaction, up to 20,000 bonus miles. The bonus is awarded to the purchaser of the miles. buyAAmiles and giftAAmiles transactions are limited to a combined maximum of 40,000 miles per account, per calendar year. For the month of December 2011 only, the combined limit for purchasing miles has been raised to 60,000 miles per account, per calendar year. Bonus miles earned do not count toward the annual limit.
