I fly Delta Airlines from time to time. Since I’ve flown over 100,000 SkyMiles the last few years, it’s generally a good idea to stay up on all things Delta. So here are a few interesting articles and updates about Delta in the news lately.

Single class CRJ’s are on the way out. Delta recently announced plans to purchase 70 Bombardier jets which will go towards replacing the single class jets with two class jets.

Delta is adding a third daily flight to London Heathrow from Atlanta starting March 31, 2013. These flights will be operated on the new lie-flat seats that I reviewed here. You can see the latest routes that have fully dedicated lie-flat service here.

Delta has sent out emails with a higher than normal offer for 45,000 bonus miles for the Delta Gold Credit Card form American Express.

And Finally, Delta is expecting a $1.6 Billion, with a B, profit in 2012. What? This is up from $854 Million profit in 2011.

They must be doing something right. What do you think?

  1. Interesting. Going ATL-FCO in March on A332. Hope they install lie-flats by then.
As for the $1.6 Billion profit I am wary. Their profit sharing assumptions are still too aggressive.

  2. Also they just released new schedules for 2013 and a lot of routes will be getting flat bed 767’s instead of the old recliners style 767’s. There’s a post with some info in the DL forum on flyertalk.

  3. Just found out they are flying 747-400 out of sea and nrt now, so business class are true lie flat seats.

( just changed my booking to 73a and 73k)
