To help you get mobile, Hertz is launching Carfirmations Upgrades, which allows Gold Members to upgrade their reserved rental directly from their mobile devices in three simple clicks. To celebrate this news, Hertz is offering one lucky Points, Miles & Martinins reader the opportunity to win 2,500 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points. These points may be used for a free weekly rental, as a Standard Reward redemption*.

Hertz Carfirmations And Mobile Alerts

Hertz Carfirmations or Mobile Gold Alerts, are an email and mobile SMS text service that notifies Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members, prior to arrival, about their rental. These notifications can include specific vehicle information and car location.

Hertz recently announced that Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members may select an upgrade or different rental vehicle through their smartphone via Carfirmations Upgrades. I like that Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members can select a range of cars from their smartphones which can instantly rent instead of the reserved vehicle. It only takes three simple clicks to complete a vehicle change through the Carfirmations service. You don’t even have to talk to a rental agent thereby saving time and getting customers on the road faster.

Carfirmations Launch

To launch the new upgrades, Hertz piloted the service in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and has since introduced the service to the top 50 airport locations in the U.S. Hertz let us know that thousands of customers participated in the pilot program and provided an overwhelmingly positive response. Some of the responses included comments like:

  • ‘loved it,’
  • ‘being able to see in advance what I’m getting, and change it to something more suitable, is a big selling point,’
  • ‘I couldn’t believe how awesome this was.’

But Hertz would love to see what you think so we are running the 2,500 point giveaway with this post.

  1. This sounds like a great idea, until you read the fine print and see it only applies to 5 day minimum rentals. There is always a catch. But next time I travel for leisure instead of business, I’ll be headed to Los Angeles and can’t wait to check it out!

  2. Hertz is trying to make it easier for all its customers. I rent from Hertz 95% of the time; it’s a great company.

  3. I like it. I’d use it wherever it is offered, and especially like the California or Florida coastal area for a rental.

  4. Mobile alerts sound awesome. We plan to fly into Michigan this summer and then drive to upper MI so we will be renting a car then. Thanks.

  5. Sounds great for staying in the know! My family wants to do a drive up the West coast from San Francisco to Seattle. 🙂

  6. I tried Carfirmation last time when I was in New Orleans! Sometimes its been late but they still have my name on the board telling me which parking space my car is in! My next trip will be Boston!

  7. Love this! I would probably use the points for a couple different weekend rentals in Florida instead of for a week all at once.

  8. A handy tool – I like it! My next road trip is around the Big Island next month. Thanks for the contest.

  9. I think it’s a great addition! I already use the carfirmation mobile app and love it! I’m looking forward to taking my 3 children on a road trip to San Diego, CA in August this year!

  10. I. Love the idea of the new alerts etc. Its another edition of good service ontop of the excellent service of hertz till now, my next trip would be to the poconos in pa. “Hertz, where love is returned”

  11. Fantastic idea, can’t wait to try it.

Next trip will be to Chicago, the best place to use Reward Points to avoid (some of) the ridiculously high airport fees and taxes.

  12. Nice addition. It will give Emerald Club some competition on the “choose the car you want” model.

No road trip planned at the moment.

  13. This is an awesome feature! Look forward to using it. My next trip will be in Miami and would love to use it to drive to the Keys!!

  14. Sounds great. I’m flying to LAX and doing a road trip to San Diego, Vegas and Grand Canyon. Any time I can save not filling out paperwork and waiting around, the better

  15. Sounds promising! I would like to take a road-trip to Orlando, Fl. Has been some time and I miss all the amusement parks:)

  16. makes things way more convenient. anything that speeds up the process is a good thing. love to take a road trip into boston in april.

  17. Sounds efficient. Always great to have more control over your reservations/travel plans.

Would be cool to use some points and do a road trip along the PCH for 3 or 4 days.

  18. I love anything that makes the rental process easier. Having the option to switch cars on the spot is great.

  19. I was wondering who is it that assign a car and put it in carfirmation service? Is it the manager on duty? And if I get a free car class upgrade say from luxury to Mercedes C250 then why can’t I keep the same car for the next new rental?
