To help you get mobile, Hertz is launching Carfirmations Upgrades, which allows Gold Members to upgrade their reserved rental directly from their mobile devices in three simple clicks. To celebrate this news, Hertz is offering one lucky Points, Miles & Martinins reader the opportunity to win 2,500 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points. These points may be used for a free weekly rental, as a Standard Reward redemption*.

Hertz Carfirmations And Mobile Alerts

Hertz Carfirmations or Mobile Gold Alerts, are an email and mobile SMS text service that notifies Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members, prior to arrival, about their rental. These notifications can include specific vehicle information and car location.

Hertz recently announced that Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members may select an upgrade or different rental vehicle through their smartphone via Carfirmations Upgrades. I like that Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members can select a range of cars from their smartphones which can instantly rent instead of the reserved vehicle. It only takes three simple clicks to complete a vehicle change through the Carfirmations service. You don’t even have to talk to a rental agent thereby saving time and getting customers on the road faster.

Carfirmations Launch

To launch the new upgrades, Hertz piloted the service in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and has since introduced the service to the top 50 airport locations in the U.S. Hertz let us know that thousands of customers participated in the pilot program and provided an overwhelmingly positive response. Some of the responses included comments like:

  • ‘loved it,’
  • ‘being able to see in advance what I’m getting, and change it to something more suitable, is a big selling point,’
  • ‘I couldn’t believe how awesome this was.’

But Hertz would love to see what you think so we are running the 2,500 point giveaway with this post.

  1. This is another example of Hertz being innovative, which is why I stay loyal to them. (Well, that and Gold Service — no need to wait at the counter!) For my next road trip, I’m hoping it’s either Aruba or Seattle (depending on the season).

  2. This would be useful for all the Atlanta trips I take. As far as cruising, there’s nothing like Napa valley.

  3. Love how I can see what car I’ll be getting and change to something else if necessary. Planning to do a road trip from LA to SF, so this would be handy!

  4. Carfirmations sounds cool! Would love a chance to take a trip into the mountains in a powerful car or small SUV!

  5. I love the idea of options! I’m looking forward to being able to use this in the near future! I have a road-trip planned for May, starting in Pheonix and ending in Las Vegas. We’re taking a very circuitous route — east to New Mexico, north to Utah, back south again to the Grand Canyon, and finally over the Hoover Dam and to Las Vegas. Can’t wait!

  6. Great idea as sometimes the reps at the counter aren’t too helpful with upgrade options. next roadtrip Grand Canyon!!

  7. The ability to upgrade on the move will hopefully save time especially when I travel for business. Even though I travel for business often, I’d love to take a weekend getaway to Florida.

  8. I like the ability to choose from a group of cars. The week would be great for a vacation in Key West.

  9. Definitely a nice service and removes a bit of uncertainty from the trip (as well as sets expectation). Would love to road trip through Scandinavia next.

  10. This is a great new feature I can’t wait to try out! Love knowing what I am getting before I get there!

  11. This is a great new feature I can’t wait to try out! Love knowing what I am getting before I get there! My next road trip has to be driving to the Canadian Rockies!

  12. It’s a great mobile app. I love it. My next road trip will be to Disneyland with my son. 🙂

  13. I’d drive in circles for an hour straight, then drive straight for an hour to end up driving in circles again for another hour.

  14. I liked the system they had in place before and this sounds like a nice upgrade, no pun intended. My next road trip will be from Chicago to visit friends across the Midwest this summer.

  15. What a great idea to save time by getting an upgrade after a long flight. I would use it on the road to Hana in Maui.

  16. This makes it easier for the customer which is great. I think a road trip through Yellowstone again would be wonderful.

  17. This looks like a great tool no matter how often you may need to rent a car. Having instant access to control those details mean everything to ensure a pleasant stress free trip. I look forward to using the tool for my business trips or personal trips to Florida.

  18. It’s a great idea; however, it only puts Hertz closer to something National has been doing for years.
Anyway, my road trip would be to Badlands NP and Mount Rushmore.

  19. it’s a great idea!! but sometimes the upgrade prices is way to high.
road trip to NYC – Vegas? maybe if I win the free week..

  20. Assuming that the notification is sent in a timely fashion, like a day prior to rental, sure would assist me. I hvr, for some time already been getting notification of car type/license etc.., but unfortunately the email notification I am getting isusually 1/2 hour prior to my arrival (while I am on the plane with my smartphone tured off).

  21. Leveraging technology to make it easier for customers is always great. I’ve been wanting to drive Skyline Drive in the Appalachains in Virginia. Perhaps that’s what I’d use the points for.

  22. The mobile app is extremely convenient. hertz continues to amaze me in providing their customers only the very best. My next road trip would be to myrtle beach SC.

  23. I tried Carfirmation last time when I was in Nashville! Cool stuff! My next trip will be Minneapolis!
