IHG Rewards has its perks. Back in 2010 I redeemed 280,000 points I had earned for 7 nights at the InterContinental Thalasso Bora Bora. It was a truly memorable experience. Not only because of the great views from the hotel, but because the entire 7 nights stay was free on award night redemption. I had earned these points for hotel nights I would have incurred anyway, so the trip was a true bonus. The only thing I had to do was sign up for the promotion at the time (which offered 4k points for every 2 stays) and shift my hotel stays over to InterContinental.
