Noticed an interesting update from the Marriott mobile app today….
According to the iPhone update members will now be able to check-in on the mobile app up to two hours before arrival. The Marriott app will then send a push notification when the room is ready and you can pick up your key at the Mobile Check-In desk.
Bottom Line
Mobile check-in sounds awesome to me. As a business traveler it can get hectic sometimes on the road. From meetings to drawn out dinners, business travelers can go all day and the last thing they want is to get walked to another hotel or stand in a long check-in line. Mobile check-in will help save time and take out the guess-work involved in a late arrival and check-in to a hotel.

I noticed this with Hyatt on a stay earlier this month. Pretty cool.
What struck me is that could you use this for budget mattress runs when doing an elite challenge? Right now for Marriott you have to show up in person. If possible you could look at the last minute breaks anywhere in the country, book a night for $50, and check in with the App. Good if you need a last night or two to hit your target.
