New LAN Vip Lounge Bogota, Colombia

I spent the week in Bogota, Colombia this week for work…and a little fun. Besides the traffic and roads in general, Bogota is a wonderful place to visit. Many areas of the city give off a much more European feel with numerous libraries and outdoor cafe’s.

For almost a year, OW did not have lounge access at El Dorado International. The Admirals Club closed last October and the new LAN lounge was scheduled to open Spring 2013. After numerous delays, it finally opened its doors a month ago. While the year long wait for a new OW refuge was quite frustrating, they did not disappoint.

Salon LAN sits directly across from the Avianca Lounge on the third floor. The elevators can be found between gates 34 and 35. The lounge has a clean and modern feel with plenty of seating in an open space above the terminal. Grab a glass of wine and people watch from the glass walls above.

I was in the lounge around noon but was not necessarily hungry. The 2 Colombian Pandebonos (Cheese Bread filled with Guava) I had for breakfast were still holding me over. I did grab a tasty salad with artichokes, olives, dried tomatoes and roasted peppers. They also had plenty of small premade sandwiches, a creamy soup, 5 varieties of sliced cheese, several meat selections and 2 varieties of the salad. I washed down my snack with a glass of Peach Juice splashed with Absolut.

The LAN VIP Lounge provide a nice place to relax before my flight back to Miami. Bogota will be calling my name more and more over the next couple of years so the new facility is very welcome in my book.

One quick follow up to my post from a couple of weeks ago, “Broke my neck on an Airplane”.  I took AA Flight 916 back from Bogota to Miami on one of their 767-300 aircrafts. For the first time on any of my American Airlines flights, they passed out Samsung Galaxy Tablets to all passengers in Business. I could choose my programming and my neck was safe!

  1. I agree it is a lovely lounge. I was there the week it opened. So fresh and open feeling. The staff were excited about it so even more helpful than usual, if that is possible. And the International Terminal is quite different from the domestic terminal in Bogota….

On AA 1130 October 16 BOG to MIA, there were no Galaxy tablets handed out in Business. In fact it was still the old 757, which is not all that comfortable for sleeping.
