Vanilla Reload Cards At Gas Stations And ConvenienceStores

I’ve found that Vanilla Reload Cards are fairly well stocked in drug stores in some cities more so than others. But I’ve also found them in Gas stations and Convenient Stores, some unexpectedly. Wherever you find them, they are a great way to re-load cards like the Bluebird® by American Express. The official site lists the following Gas Stations and Convenient stores, but I’ve found a place or two not listed that does offer the Vanilla Reload cards. In particular, on a recent trip to a Circle K I unexpectedly found a large amount of Vanilla Reload cards. My guess is that the Circle K store was owned by own of the companies below, but I’m not sure if other Circle K stores regularly carry Vanilla Reload cards.

Are there any others I missed?

Bottom Line

If you have a Bluebird® by American Express card or another re-loadable card, it’s a good idea to know the stores in your area that sell the Vanilla Reload cards.

  1. It seems many of these stores don’t allow you to use a credit card for Vanilla purchases. Do you have any CC success with any of these?

  2. Add cash? Did you mean you’ve had luck using credit cards at some of these locations? It would seem to defeat the purpose of the ‘system’ to use cash to purchase VR cards.

  3. Yes, we know about the list of all stores that carry reloads. But in my area, none of them allow credit, except CVS which no longer stocks them.

  4. Mind sharing some specifics or hints on location, gas station brand and whether a gas bonus category card posted? Thanks.

I probed all the stations in my area initially. Circle k did not have them but hucks did, but sadly does not allow credit caes.

Thanks for the reminder to keep checking.

  5. HEB doesn’t allow credit card use for the VR. Among those listed, who will take a Credit Card? (besides CVS). Now THAT would be useful.

  6. I can tell you from personal experience 7-11 only takes credit cards for certain reloadable cards (usually stored value cards like iTunes, prepaid mobile phone service, etc) but NOT for financial products. Their registers automatically block the use of credit cards even if store clerks try to allow it.

  7. Not really interested in who has them, tons of stores have them. I see them all over the place. What would be better is if you let who know who is still accepting a credit card to buy them

  8. Office Depot here in Florida has signs made into the display at the top that state Cash only for the VR cards. My biggie is which ones still take AMEX gift cards for them.

  9. Curious to know if there are any spots in Miami or Key West that sell the VR at a gas station? Valero or Sunoco?
