Get 50,000 US Airways Miles For Only $567.50 When You Share 50,000 Miles

From now through December 6, 2013, US Airways is offering a promotion where you can share enough miles for a round-trip domestic First Class ticket or give your friend’s account enough miles for a Business Class ticket to Europe, North Asia or South America for only $567.50. The transferring member must have miles in their account to take advantage of this promotion.

For example, let’s assume you had 45,000 US Airways Miles and wanted to transfer them to a friend. You could transfer all 45,000 Miles to a friend for $450 + 7.5% Tax + $30 Fee for a total of $513.75. Your friend would then have 90,000 Miles, enough for a Business Class ticket to North Asia for only $513.75 plus the original cost of the miles (45,000 from your account). What a nice Christmas gift.

This offer has come in the past, but not as frequently as the more expensive 100% buy miles promotion. I do expect this to be one of the last opportunities to purchase / share US Airways miles at a significant discount before they merge with American Airlines. At these prices, I will be taking advantage of this offer.

The bonus amounts translate into enough miles for a round-trip domestic First Class ticket or enough miles in a friend’s account for a Business Class ticket to Europe, North Asia or South America or a number of other great destinations based on the US Airways partner award chart.

Bottom Line

These promotions do come around often with the US Airways Dividend Miles program. But there is no telling what will happen to these 100% buy miles promotions once the integration with American Airlines AAdvantage programs begins (which is already underway).

I’d suggest only purchasing the miles if you have an immediate or near term use for them. Still, a round-trip domestic First Class ticket or enough miles in a friend’s account for a Business Class ticket to Europe, North Asia or South America for only $567.50 (plus cost of original miles) is not a bad price to pay.

If you are looking for another way to earn US Airways or American Airlines miles (US Airways and American programs will merge at some point in the near future and mileage balances will combine) consider the US Airways Premier World MasterCard which normally comes with 30,000 bonus miles after your first purchase but there is a better offer link available on Flyertalk for 35,000 where the annual fee is waived in the first year.

  1. While it’s not necessary to log in to share miles in this promo, it’s not a bad idea to confirm just how many miles you currently have before sharing.
