Wyndham’s 31 Riverwood Chalet–Breckenrige, Colorado

I just got back from a trip to Breckenridge with a group of current and former road warriors looking to cash in some miles and a long weekend for some fun on the Rockies.  While the coming and going through Winter Storm Advisory conditions made me regret a two-wheel-drive rental, those same conditions made for some exceptional ski conditions – a new inch of fresh powder on the mountains every hour, all day.

The real star of the weekend was a lucky upgrade from a standard ski lodge to a deluxe 5+ bedroom chalet.  We achieved our upgrade through less conventional means – a pipe had burst in our original rental, and due to the size of our group, the only property that would accommodate us was 31 Riverwood.  It pays to travel together!

The chalet came complete with all the “necessities” – outdoor hot tub, indoor movie theater, three living rooms, two kitchens, and plenty of sleeping and recreational space.  It’s located just close enough to Breckenridge’s Peak 10 to be considered “ski-in, ski-out”, but because Peak 10 is entirely challenging double-black runs, for me personally it was a quick shuttle ride to the mountain.  Oh, and I should mention that Wyndham’s shuttle driver is on-call for guests and offers door-to-door service anywhere in Breckenridge free of charge?  We felt very well taken care of, especially since due to the blizzard, only the snow-chained tires of the shuttle van were really going to get us anywhere.

Between perfect ski conditions and fantastic lodging, we felt spoiled the whole time.  It was a lucky break that was far more than a bunch of status-toting points junkies deserved, but that’s not to say we didn’t enjoy the turn of events!

  1. Going to the mountains and only rented a 2 wheel drive? VERY poor judgment! At least you made it.
