How To Get To Seychelles With SkyTeam

Several years ago we booked two Business Class tickets from the U.S. to the Seychelles for only 120,000 Sky Miles. This ticket included a stop in Seychelles for 6 nights, an open-jaw to Mauritius for 4 nights, and a stop-over in Paris for 5 nights on the return. It was an incredible way to spend 3 weeks away from everyday life and an even better use of airline miles to experience something we would not have done otherwise.

That flight from Paris to Seychelles was operated by Air Seychelles which had a codeshare with Air France giving us the opportunity to use our SkyMiles on the flight. Unfortunately the code share no longer exists, but you can still get to the Seychelles using SkyTeam miles. Air France Flying Blue miles are by far the easiest way to get there, but you might also be able to use Delta miles, albeit with a bit more headache. Here’s how:

Find Availability From Nairobi To Seychelles

Kenya Airways operates 3x flights weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays from Nairobi to the capital of the Seychelles, Mahe.

Find Availability To Nairobi From U.S.

Next, find availability to get you to Nairobi. Note, you can add in a stop-over here if you like or just keep going right through.

Lastly, Find Availability From US To Europe

Yes, this is a long flight. I would only advise this itinerary if you have time to kill and can utilize stop-overs and open jaws to take time at at least one or two of the locations on the way to the islands. We added an open jaw to spend time in Mauritius before catching the Air France flight back from Mauritius to Paris, where we also used a stop-over to spend some time there.

SkyTeam Flight to Seychelles

This ticket would cost 140,000 SkyMiles round-trip or 70,000 SkyMiles one-way under the new Delta SkyMiles Level 1 award chart. Only 20,000 more miles than I used back when the Air Seychelles flight was operating the codeshare with Air France.

Bottom Line

Getting to the Seychelles isn’t easy on SkyTeam miles, but it can be done. With a little diligence, you can explore some great beaches of the world in the Seychelles.

  1. Is it unfeasible or disadvantageous to use Korean Air miles instead of Flying Blue/Delta Skymiles?
