Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines both announced some new routes from Seattle this week.
Alaska is adding several new domestic cities from Seattle, and Delta just launched non-stop service to London-Heathrow.
Details of the new Alaska routes:
Alaska Airlines is growing its Seattle hub again with the addition of new daily nonstop service to Albuquerque, N.M., and Baltimore. The cities are in addition to previously announced service to Detroit, New Orleans and Tampa, Fla., scheduled to begin this June and September.
Summary of new daily service:
• Seattle – New Orleans: starting June 12
• Seattle – Tampa: starting June 20
• Seattle – Baltimore: starting Sept. 2
• Seattle – Detroit: starting Sept. 4
• Seattle – Albuquerque: starting Sept. 18
With the new flights, Alaska Airlines will now offer 279 peak-day departures nonstop to 78 destinations from Seattle.
Details of Delta’s new route:
Delta Air Lines continued its rapid expansion in Seattle with the launch of new daily nonstop service from Seattle t to London Heathrow this weekend. The route, established as part of Delta’s joint venture with Virgin Atlantic Airways, and is an important enhancement to Delta’s growing trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific network from Seattle.
This spring Delta will also begin expanded Seattle service from Anchorage; Fairbanks, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Portland, Ore.; San Diego; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and Vancouver to support its growing international gateway that currently serves London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Paris-Charles de Gaulle as well as Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo-Narita, and Tokyo-Haneda.
By this summer, Delta will offer more than 2,500 daily international seats as part of its 79 peak-day departures to 25 destinations.
Bottom Line:
This is great news for Seattle flyers. The competition of Delta and Alaska in Seattle seems like it’s going to continue, which hopefully will mean more flight options for customers.

Seattle. Seems like an odd place to build such a huge hub. No offense to Seattle it’s just strange to me being in the Midwest. I would think Alaska would want to branch out a little and add another hub someplace else. I know how about Minneapolis 🙂
