Vanilla Reloads Are NOT Dead

A few weeks ago we shared the bad news that CVS had moved to “cash tender only” for the Vanilla reload cards. Effectively, the Vanilla Reloads were considered dead. But they aren’t. In fact, as I tweeted yesterday, I was able to pick up a bunch at a local gas station using a credit card that offers extra bonus on gas purchases.

This was great news. And there is no question in my mind that Vanilla Reloads are not dead. But one question remains, do I share the location of where I was able to find the bunches of Vanilla Reload cards? On one hand, it will likely lead to a quick death of the cards. On the other hand, who am I to withhold this information.

Leave a comment if you think I should reveal the location and name of the store or not.

  1. I am a sharing-kid of guy, but would advise you NOT to share the location of where you found the VRs!

    … and, enjoy! 😉

  2. Please keep the locale to yourself. There are some things you should never share and an unlimited, currently, stash of VR is almost the Holy Grail of MS.

  3. I found them as well last week and I was happily surprised to hear they took a credit card. Let’s keep the secret for a few weeks before it blows up!

  4. Up to you buddy! VRs were never dead since you can buy VRs from non-CVS stores. It’s only dead at CVS.

  5. On one hand I say yes on the other I say no. Let people figure it out themselves. No one taught me how to effectively MS, I leaned by trial and error. I know of a place that I can still but them but I’m not sharing the location. I believe that people should learn by trial and error.

  6. I agree with the above comments – don’t share. Let those who find locations themselves be rewarded for their efforts.

  7. Share it via private email or confidential group like what Tahir did so deal can sustain for long time and benefitial ; as killing deal doesn’t help anybody.

  8. You’ve given enough for someone to follow your trail if they’re willing to work and have some luck. Don’t spoon feed 🙂

  9. Please stop this habit of blogging just for some clicks. Either do it in a private forum or Keep your mouth shut and don’t kill the deal for others. Let others find out their own ways of MSing. VRs are not the only way to MS and every one knows about it.

  10. Don’t share it on your blog. Eventually, it will die. Share with those you trust and ride it.

  11. I’m quite surprised to see the possessiveness people have around MS techniques these days. It’s disheartening to say the least. Decide the intention of your blog & what YOU personally are in “the game” for, & you won’t have to poll your readers for your decision.

  12. As much as I’d love to know where you found them, I’d hate to have you lose the opportunity for yourself. I’ve tried some gas stations in Austin to no avail, so more power to you.

  13. Please do share it with your commenters by email. Much appreciated.

In the end, it’s just silly to be paranoid about this, people can still buy Debit GCs anyway.

  14. Why, Vanilla Reloads ain’t dead, they’re just pining for the fjords. We have plenty of VRs at the local 7-11’s down here if you want to pay cash. If your secret location ain’t in Florida those VRs might as well be singing in the choir invisible.

  15. I’ll send the picture to Chloe O’Brian so she can analyze the pic and geolocation. Any minute now…

  16. SO TEMPTING! Blurting it out will ultimately kill the deal, but I’d love to know via email!

  17. Don’t share – just as you stumbled upon them others can do the same. Going out and looking for new “opportunities” is a part of this game. Don’t feed the lazy.

  18. I also know where to get them. Don’t share. Let the people who want to work for it, find it. The location has been published in the past.

  19. Undecided…but, I would love to be included in an email if you decide to go that route

  20. Unfourtunatly this info will leak out at some point. Email sounds the the best route if you want to share.

  21. Joey has it right. Just the fact that you’ve let people know that they can get them at a gas station should be enough. If they can’t take a little initiative, are they worth the trouble of laying it all out for them?

  22. I would like to know via email. Texas has been dead with VR for quite some time in my area.

  23. I found VRs at gas stations witihin 2 days of them going dead at CVS… took me a few hours of work… All I needed was the tip off from Mommypoints that gas stations were selling them… please do not share exact locations. Let people do some of the work. Just telling them that there are gas stations out there is a reasonable compromise. No need to spoonfeed the deal to everyone and kill it.

  24. I agree with Jamie above that you should email the first people to comment. But I think you should expand the number to 50 rather than 20! 🙂

  25. Let someone else, another blogger, spill the beans. It isn’t your responsibility to spoon feed your readers. The process is know, ever store doesn’t need to be disclosed.
Because I don’t have an ink card I have never partaken in process but I have enjoyed reading along.

  26. Would love to know, email would be great way of telling for those of us that care enough to write a message.

  27. $400 limit ??? Check the fine print if using an American Express. Some limit gas station bonus to charges of $400 or less.

If you are emailing , include me. But I don’t think you’re in my ‘hood.

  28. Is this is the ny nj metro area? Looked at vanilla reloads site and could only think of one place I haven’t tried yet, might do so now, but have found other means of MS in the meantime.

  29. At least to know if my state (Illinois) has those stations. I have seen some gas stations with VR (not including 7-11) where VR is hard coded for cash only.
Tip by email would be good

  30. I agree. Don’t share. People should do at least some of the work themselves. If you do share, do it via email so it doesn’t get shut down!
