How To Check Which Card You Synced

Sometimes if you have different American Express cards it can be hard to remember which card you registered. I do have multiple cards, so the last thing I wanted to do was spend the money on a non-registered card and forgo the savings. Here’s a few simple steps to check which card you synced.

American Express Sync with Twitter Promotions

I had previously registered my Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express, which is great, because I could continue to focus on getting another 10,000 Delta MQMs towards status (for total of 70,000 this year without flying), but I’m switching it over to my American Express Business Platinum card to get the bonus 50,000 points from the 150,000 American Express Membership Rewards point offer.

Bottom Line

American Express sync promotions is an easy way to save money on everyday spending. It only takes a few moments to signup for these offers but the savings can be material.

Have you synced to any promotions for big savings lately?

  1. A couple things about Amex Sync (one good, one bad) that I might mention. If you use the iPhone American Express app and touch “nearby”, you may or may not find deals for retailers in your area. What you can do, however, is move the map to another location and touch “move to this area” to find Amex Sync offers that may not otherwise be available to you on the social media platforms or the Amex website, the most being in the New York City/Los Angeles areas, with an isolated number of offers in other major metropolitan areas like Houston, Dallas, and Chicago. Once added to your card, you’ll be able to see them on the PC version of the American Express website under “my offers” on whichever card (if you have more than one Amex) you’ve used to sync. This is a potentially good deal if you’re either in or visiting those cities. The downside, if you want to call it this, regarding Amex Sync is that the offers are, with the exception of a few past offers on Trip Advisor available in the USA, UK and Austrailia, tied to the country where your card is issued (i.e the USA or UK), which is something that isn’t the case with the American Express Selects promotion that Amex Offers has replaced in the two previously mentioned countries, nor is it with Groupon or any other similar social deal site which as far as I know, aren’t tied to the country where you’re based. Amex Offers deals in London that can be found on Foursquare, for example, must be synced to a card issued in the UK. Not sure if it’s a currency issue or not (most likely not the case since, as I mentioned, Trip Advisor did offers syncs to retailers in Australia and the UK available to US cardholders at one point), but this is one area that hopefully American Express will address in order to allow foreign tourists/expats who have American Express cards to have access to Amex Sync as well.

  2. One more thing I should mention is that although all of the Amex Sync offers have expiration dates, many of the retailers with deals being offered also sell gift cards, which if you chose to purchase with your American Express, can extend the shelf life of the deal, as it were. I’ve successfully done this in the past, the most recently being for the Staples, Home Depot, and Lowes offers. Lowes, for example, offered a $10 statement credit for a purchase of $50. I purchased a $50 Shell gift card, effectively saving ten bucks on a tank of gas for my car.
