Lounge Review: Amex Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas

The American Express Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas is just one of two clubs in the USA operated by American Express for its Platinum and Centurion cardholders.

Three more Centurion Lounges are slated to open in 2014 – San Francisco, Miami and New York La Guardia.

The other lounge currently open is in Dallas Ft. Worth, however, this lounge is easy to find in the Las Vegas airport, across from gate D-1.

I often fly Southwest Airlines out of Las Vegas due to large number and frequency of destinations served , but often didn’t get to experience the Centurion Lounge due to having to pass thru security from the C gates to the D gates.

This changed last month when the airport decided to ‘throw open the doors’ between the C pier and the D pier, allowing quicker and easier access to the Centurion Lounge.

The lounge itself gets almost universal rave reviews – with a small hot and cold buffet with appetizers, soup, sandwiches, salads and pasta, and free signature cocktails, beer and wine all served up with friendly and efficient service in a lounge with surprisingly comfortable furnishings broken up into semi-private seating areas.

I’ve had the opportunity to visit the American Express Centurion Lounge over a half-dozen times this year, and what impresses me ever time is the consistency of the lounge, it’s staff and the food and beverage offerings.  It never fails to provide a quiet, well-lit, well designed airport oasis to relax before and between flights.
