  1. In Brazil we don´t get the Starwood Preferred Guest Gold Status, Free Boingo WiFi, $200 Airline Fee Credit, Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre Check and the fee is more than 450 usd per year.
Still is the best card available in the country right now (as the black card is not issued in Brazil) and gives you 2,2 points per dolar

  2. San Diego also has an Airspace Lounge. It is a shared facility with the Admiral’s Club. It was a little hard to find and still seems under construction and incomplete at the end of August.

  3. I have been an AMEX Platinum Card menber since 1996. What I would like to know is why do bloggers in general focus on the nickel and dime stuff (which is pretty good nickels and dimes, BTW), and forget about the real dollars?

As in the IAP, where when purchasing a Business Class ticket, you can get a companion ticket for taxes and fees. As many times as you like per year. If you do a lot of international business travel (I do) and your employer reimburses your airfare (mine does), you can take a companion on a very nice trip for only a marginal cost. Since the hotels are generally free for companion travel, the only thing you have to pay for in addition to the taxes are half of the meals.

Yes, I know the AMEX site does say that it has to be a full fare ticket, but in reality this means no consolidator fares. I was booking a trip to France and discussed the IAP with the AMEX agent and found a discounted ($5,000) BC fare on a DL codeshare AF flight. Since it was a full fare, it qualified, and all we had to pay were the taxes and fees from DL (around $1,000).

Plus we got Membership Rewards points. Which is another perk you missed.
