The Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas is a 5-star luxury beach resort in Abu Dhabi nestled along the pristine beaches of Saadiyat Island, just about 25 minutes from the Abu Dhabi International Airport. It opened in November 2011 with 306 spacious guestrooms with private balconies, including 39 suites all with ocean, garden or golf course views.

We dropped our rental car off with the complimentary valet service, and we were welcomed back into the beautifully decorated lobby filled with understated art and architecture of such a grand space.

The associate checking us in went thru the normal procedures – verifying my address, form of payment (Hyatt Cash + Points at 10,000 points and $125 per night), and then the associate said that I would be using a Suite Upgrade Certificate that would get me into a Park King Suite.  The associate then paused, and said that we were upgraded “many, many, many times over into a Diplomatic Suite … just one suite down from the Presidential Suite.”  I thought wow. This is good. But had no idea how good until we got to the door of the suite.  It was a double door with three stones next to it. Just inside, the foyer was minimally decorated, but beautiful.

A granite bar separated the dining room from the kitchen.  When we arrived, there was a bottle of wine.  For being a Hyatt Diamond we were offered a ‘food and beverage amenity’ or 1,000 Gold Passport points.  We chose the ‘food and beverage amenity’ which was hummus and chips, cashews, smoked almonds, a nut mix and three Heinekens.

Along the length of the suite was a terrace with three separate seating areas, and a commanding dead center view of the pool sitting 4 stories below.

The bedroom wasn’t as spacious as the rest of the suite, but it also had it’s own private terrace, and was connected to the master bathroom and large dressing area.

Easily the best feature of the bathroom was the soaking tub.  The bathroom also included an enclosed shower area to the left, and an enclosed toilet area to the right.

Other than the spaciousness of the suite, one of the best parts about the suite was the morning and evening room refresh.  Every time the room was refreshed, it was returned to ‘check-in’ condition tidied up with fresh towels and complimentary bottled water.  The Park Hyatt also had a gym, a spa and four separate dining areas:

• The CafeÌ serves authentic Middle Eastern specialties in a contemporary Arabic setting
• The Park Bar & Grill serves charcoal-grilled meats and a selection of Asian dishes from its large theatre-style kitchen
• The Beach House serves Mediterranean cuisine along with great views of Saadiyat Beach
• The Library is a contemporary tea lounge serving selected teas and coffee specialties, as well as homemade chocolates and pastries

We visited the CafeÌ every morning for the Diamond breakfast – buffet style from 6am to 11am, and we also had dinner one night outside at the CafeÌ.

But easily the best features of the property were the gorgeous pools, and well kept (and furnished) beach area.

 Bottom Line:

While I am not usually one who goes to large luxury beach resorts, I’ve had two stays at the Park Hyatt in Abu Dhabi.  This hotel has a huge WOW factor with it’s location on the beach and immaculately maintained and relaxing pools.  The service was top notch as well.  I actually can’t wait to return!
