Alaska Airlines just announced that they would be launching new service from Seattle and Portland. The new destinations that they plan to serve from these cities are:

Seattle-Milwaukee
Seattle-St. Louis
Portland-Oklahoma City

B3Ur6hrCQAA64T_.jpg-largeTo fly these new routes, Alaska is expanding its partnership with SkyWest Airlines with the addition of new 76-seat Embraer E175 jets. These new jets have lots of room, Inflight Wi-Fi & entertainment, and a first class cabin with power in the seats. Service starts on July 1, 2015 and introductory fares start at $119 each way.

Bottom Line

It’s great that Alaska Airlines is adding these new routes, but flying half way across the county on a regional jet doesn’t seem all that appealing to me. What are your thoughts on these new routes? Do you think Alaska is just trying to ward off Delta with these new routes from Seattle?

  1. I think you made a typo with the city list. But as someone from OKC who is currently planning a trip to SEA this summer, this worked out very nicely.
