Hyatt is in the middle of opening six new properties in just over ten days – dating back to December 10th of last week to December 20th of this week. Two are on the higher end of the newly created “all inclusive” end of the Hyatt chain, while three are Hyatt Place hotels on the lower end of the Hyatt chain.
Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall – Montego Bay -Â Exterior.
The much anticipated openings are two all inclusive properties in Montego Bay, Jamacia:
the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall opened on December 10th located on the former site of the Ritz-Carlton, opened this week and has 496 suites, including 28 newly created premium swim-up suites, featuring terraces with gardens and ocean views.
the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is scheduled to open on December 20 and is a resort exclusively for adults with 125 suites, including 30 romantic swim-up suites.
According to the Press Release, “Spanning 1,200 feet of private, pristine coastline on the turquoise Caribbean, Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall will share the same resort grounds and will combine to form an unparalleled, all inclusive resort experience. Dining takes center stage and is led by an international culinary team that oversees unique offerings in each of the à la carte, buffet and innovative poolside ‘food truck’ experiences that guests may enjoy.”
Meanwhile, reader Larry D reminded us of the Hyatt Ziva opening in Puerto Vallarta with a soft opening of December 15th, and official opening of December 20th. That property is close to town, and situated on a private cloistered beach cove with three exclusive pools including the quiet pool for adults only.
On the lesser exciting end of the Hyatt brand, three Hyatt Place hotels have opened in the past week in Baltimore, the Florida Keys, and Columbus, Mississippi.
- In Baltimore, the 208 room hotel is proximate to Harbor East, Fells Point and Little Italy neighborhoods and two blocks from both the Baltimore Harbor and the planned Harbor Point mixed-use development.
- In the Florida Keys (Marathon), the Hyatt Place is a 125 room hotel at the at Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club which is is situated at the site of the historic Faro Blanco Lighthouse and is nearby the famous Seven Mile Bridge – and just steps away from the Gulf of Mexico.
- In Columbus, Mississippi, the Hyatt Place is a 99 room hotel near Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, downtown Columbus and Columbus Air Force Base.
Bottom Line:
Anytime Hyatt increases their global footprint is a good thing for Hyatt loyalists. I am somewhat intrigued by the idea of a Hyatt all inclusive, as the Hyatt hotels in Montego Bay which start at 25,000 points for two people, and then adding 12,500 points per night per person, which seems a little steep. While I’m not personally ‘super excited’ about Montego Bay, has anyone seen any good reviews, or made any reservations there?

You’re forgetting about the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta which is officially opening Dec 20 but my understanding is that the soft opening was Dec 15

@ Larry D – thanks for the ‘heads’ up (and will edit) … I am super confused by the Hyatt Ziva naming scheme … apparently there are 3 of them … one in Montego Bay opening earlier this week, the second in Puerto Vallarta opening later this week, and then the one in Las Cabos, which is was hit by the hurricane in September and is temporarily closed for repairs. Las Cabos is accepting reservations for April 30, 2015 and beyond.
I will most likely write a review when I get back home. I can see a lot of potential in this property but my stay has been rather frustrating. If they’re able to correct all (or most) of the issues I had then this place would be a bargain at 25K points per night for two.

Be a little wary of the Zilara Rose Hall’s opening date. To the frustration of MANY, the earlier opening date of Nov 23 was moved to Dec 10. It was then further delayed to Dec 20. Photos posted online by those staying at the neighboring Ziva a week ago show (at least) landscaping still being done.
I’ll be going in mid jan. I originally booked for the opening weekend, dec 6th weekend, but they pushed the opening back a few weeks. can’t wait to check out hyatt’s all inclusive.
We are at the Hyatt Ziva rose hall right now. We had reservations at zilara. Looked at property this afternoon. There is no way it is opening on Dec 20. I’d say a minimum of a month away. Ziva isn’t even really ready. Rooms have no phones. Tv doesn’t work. Molding is unfinished. Furniture in rooms is mostly brand new and then coffee table has major dents and chips. Food is great. Service is fantastic. They are just not ready to be open.
