We wrote this week about a new partnership from Starwood Preferred Guests and Uber that allows SPG Members to earn SPG points per dollar spent with Uber.  To promote the #SuiteRide, the hotel and the car service gave out free Uber rides, 15,000 Starpoints and other Starwood prizes to up to 480 winners.

Well guess what … I was one of the winners today in New York City!

Bottom Line:

This was a fun promotion, and luckily I didn’t spend too much time on requesting my SPG Uber.  I just happened to be clicking at the right place at the right time.  What’s amazing is that people really do win these crazy promotions!

If you are new to Uber, you can still sign up and get $20 off your first ride when you sign up though this link.

  1. Very aggravating. Been trying every few seconds for a half hour now. Been both trying where I live and closer to downtown, but it just says that no SPG rides are available. Think it might be time to throw in the towel on this one and not let it consume the rest of my Saturday afternoon.

Seems if they were hoping to make a positive impression that they should have gone about this differently. It won’t significantly change my Uber usage, but spending a half hour frustrated while looking at their app can’t be a good thing either.

  2. Spent a couple of hours on it. I even ran into a drive representing St. Regis, but I couldn’t get the app to ring up a winner……..

  3. You’re lucky! I was only free between 2-4pm and looked and looked by Times Square/Broadway area and never saw an SPG uber ride on my Uber app. Ah well. Great to read you got one though!
