Earning Delta Elite Status comes a lot faster when you consistently add 10,000 to 15,000 Delta MQMs to your account. The easiest way to elite status and to add MQMs to your account is through the Miles Boost promotion with the Delta Reserve Card or the Delta Platinum SkyMiles Card from American Express once you hit the spending threshold. But just because a card gives you bonus MQMs just for hitting spending thresholds doesn’t mean it’s the best Delta card for you to get.

15,000 Delta MQMs

For me, the extra MQMs I earn through the Miles Boost with my personal Reserve card and my business Platinum card help me earn and enjoy Platinum status each year.

For example, I recently completed my first of two spending thresholds. In the first threshold I spent a total of $30,000 on my Delta Reserve Card. Shortly after I met the spending statement closed I received the message below indicating I would receive the first of two 15,000 Miles Boost from meeting the card spending requirement.

Delta MQMs

Congratulations on reaching the second Miles Boost threshold with your Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express.

You’ve earned an additional 15,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 15,000 bonus miles for spending $60,000 with your Card within the calendar year. Your bonus miles have already been deposited into your account. If within 90 days, a MQM recipient is not designated, the MQMs will be deposited into your account.

And as a Card Member, you may continue to enjoy the Card’s many benefits, including:

  • Complimentary Delta Sky Club® access for you2
  • Receive a Domestic Economy or First Class Companion Certificate each year upon renewal*
  • first checked bag free – that’s a savings of up to $200 per round-trip for a family of four3

Thank you for your business and continued loyalty.

*Payment of the government taxes and fees ranging from $28.20 to $69.20 for itineraries with two to four flight segments is required. Baggage charges and other restrictions apply. See terms and conditions for details.

When you are ready to claim your MQMs, just follow the simple steps in this linked post, or see below for an image of how the process is completed.

Redeem Delta MQMs

Log-in to your Delta account and select the MQM redemption option. If you have the Business and Personal card, you can select each one individually. If not, select the one you have and move forward with the MQM transfer process.

See airline credit card offers page for current offers.

Bottom Line

Earning Delta MQMs through the Delta Reserve Card or Delta Platinum SkyMiles Card from American Express is one of the quickest ways to earn Delta Silver, Gold, Platinum or even help you get to Diamond status.

  1. How many total MQM do you earn through cc spend? And how much is MS if you don’t mind sharing

  2. In All fairness to the weekly flyer, He is not misstating what his title is about. He is listing the benefits of both of the higher end DL Amex cards and how you can get X MQMs for Y Spend depending on the card. René at Delta Points has this information in previous entries as well. I cant speak for this poster, but if I remember properly, Delta or Amex does not pay René for pushing people to his site.

  3. There are frequent posts about how to earn MQMs and achieve Delta status. But miles don’t get you there!! You have to spend MQDs..up to $15,000 of them annually to achieve Diamond. Are there any secrets to get the MQDs other than buying airline tickets?

  4. The Delta Reserve card allows you to keep the MQMs for your account or give them to another person. Does the Delta Platinum (personal) card also allow you to give the MQMs to another person?
