Discounted American AAdvantage Miles
Earn up to 30,000 bonus miles when you buy or gift AAdvantage miles.
Through March 3, 2015, you’ll earn up to 30,000 bonus miles when you buy AAdvantage miles for yourself, or add up to 30,000 bonus miles to your purchase when you gift miles to a friend or loved one. That’s a total of up to 130,000 AAdvantage® miles. Buy or gift miles today.
Terms and Conditions
AAdvantage members must purchase at least 20,000 AAdvantage miles or more in a single transaction from the Buy or Gift Miles program beginning 7:00:00 am CT on February 2, 2015 to 11:59:59 pm CT March 3, 2015, to be eligible for bonus miles. The applicable bonus miles are awarded to the recipient for Gift Miles transactions. The applicable bonus miles awarded are shown beside each mileage increment in the mileage selection drop-down box. Bonus miles earned do not count toward the annual limits. The discount applies to the AAdvantage miles purchased and does not apply towards taxes or the $30 transaction processing fee.
If you were to purchase 75,000 AAdvantage miles, you would get the 30,000 bonus for a total of 105,000 American AAdvantage miles for a price of $2,212.50, $30 processing fee plus 7.5% tax for around a price of $2,408.
I wouldn’t generally buy these just to buy them but if you need a few more for an award ticket, or want to book a business class flight and save some money from buying it, then there are instances when this could make sense to do it.
