I’m on my way to re-qualify for Delta Platinum status this year, and one of the easiest ways to earn Medallion Qualifying Miles is actually through their credit cards.

I had just spent $25,000 on my Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express so was thrilled when I logged into my account and had seen the 10,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles post today.
I also received the following email from Delta:
Congratulations on reaching the Miles Boost threshold.
You have earned 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs).
Congratulations on reaching the first Miles Boos1 threshold with your Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express.
You’ve earned 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 10,000 bonus miles for spending $25,000 with your Card within the calendar year. Your bonus miles have already been deposited into your SkyMiles account.
And remember, you can earn another 10,000 MQMs and 10,000 bonus miles after you reach $50,000 or more of purchases within the calendar year. Plus as a Card Member, you may continue to enjoy the Card’s many benefits, including:
- Discounted Delta Sky Club® access for you and up to two guests
- Receive a Domestic Main Cabin Companion Certificate each year upon renewal
- A first checked bag free – that’s a savings of up to $200 per round-trip for a family of four

Bottom Line
Earning Medallion Qualifying Miles from spending is the easiest way in my opinion. The other great thing about spending $25,000 on this card is that I now have earned the Medallion Qualifying Dollar Waiver requirement.

So you got your MQD waiver. Good for you.
But there is no amount of CC spend that will get you into the secret society. So when I get pushed up to the top of the upgrade list with my traveling companion on my V class fare, I will chuckle softly at my good fortune and all the DMs who qualify on MS.
Funny, always when you quote something from Delta you get the name right. When writing in your own words you use a different name 😉
We all know that MQM stands for Medallion Qualification Mile.
But somehow a whole lot of bloggers write Medallion Qualifying Mile as if it were a name.
Anyway, congratulations to reach the spending requirement for earning 10,000 MQMs. If this is really the easiest way to earn MQMs? I don’t know, it doesn’t work for me.
There is no such thing as a Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express where I live. The only Delta-cobranded credit card available to me is a MasterCard which does not earn any MQMs.
Good for you I guess…except that by spending all that money on the AMEX card that earns a poor rate of a poor commodity(skypesos) you weren’t earning on a much higher paying credit card. Can I ask what your strategy is that has you using your AMEX most?
