When it comes to SkyMiles, they aren’t the most valuable currency, however Delta loves to be innovative when it comes to ways you use their SkyMiles, and the newest way you can redeem them is at the Sky Club. No, not for a Sky Club membership, but for a drink in the club.
Delta has launched a trial at their San Francisco Sky Club, where SkyMiles members can redeem their miles for premium beverages at the bar. Note that this will be rolled out to all 34 Sky Clubs later in 2016.
If Delta is allowing members to redeem SkyMiles at the Sky Club for drinks, it’s only a matter of time before Delta will allow SkyMiles members to redeem miles onboard flights for drinks, especially with the Sky Pros that their flight attendants are equipped with.
When it comes to redemption, it’s at 1 cent per SkyMile redemption which isn’t the greatest. The airline claims that you could redeem just 300 SkyMiles for a premium beer whereas cocktails will run about 600-800 SkyMiles.
If you do wish to redeem, let the bartender know who will either scan your SkyMiles membership card or boarding pass and then you’ll enter your SkyMiles password on their device.
