According to Marriott’s news center, starting April 11, 2016, Marriott will offer preferred rates to Marriott Rewards members with Marriott Rewards Member Rates when you book directly through Marriott.com, the Marriott app, Marriott reservations, or through select corporate travel services.

Marriott Rewards Members To Get Discounted Rates

What you need to know about Marriott Rewards Member Rates:

  • These rates offer a discount of at least two percent on weekdays and up to five percent on weekends

  • The rate is applied to the hotel’s lowest applicable available public rates for non-premium rooms

  • The rates must be booked by the Rewards member using the appropriate member rate category

  • Rates are available across all hotels and brands in the Marriott portfolio globally, excluding Bulgari Hotels & Resorts and The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, except during special events

  • The member rate may not be combined with other select promotions, offers or discounts, and is not valid for existing reservations or groups

The Best Rate Guarantee: Extra Discount Your Stay 25%

You can still apply Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee to get these new reduced prices as well.

  • If within 24 hours of making your reservation, you find a lower hotel rate for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates, and submit a qualified guarantee form, we’ll match the rate + give you an extra 25% discount on the room.

Free Wi-Fi When You Book Directly with Marriott

Marriott Rewards members booking direct always receive free Wi-Fi throughout their stay. If you book Marriott hotels through 3rd-party sites, like Orbitz you won’t get these benefits or earn hotel points.

Bottom Line

It looks like Marriott is looking to make a move towards getting more customers to book directly with Marriott rather than through 3rd party sites with this new discount. Time will tell how big the discounts really are on the weekdays (at least two percent on weekdays and up to five percent on weekends.) It’s free to join Marriott Rewards, so if you haven’t done so now is a good time to join!
