Start Using Your Amazon.com Gift Card BalanceIt’s a great way to liquidate balances lingering on your Amazon.com account. I usually have a big Amazon.com Gift Card Balance because of various 5x the points promotions – most recently from purchasing $1,000 worth of Amazon.com Gift Cards from Gas Stations during the Chase Freedom 1st Quarter. Also, from the American Express Offer for You last year where you could score $15 statement credit on your $60 Amazon purchase for virtually every eligible American Express card. Discover is also giving 5x the Cash Back at Amazon.com in the 3rd and 4th Quarters.

I decided to do a test purchase with an Amazon.com Gift Card Balance, using part of it to buy a $25 Gift Card at Panda Express:Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 12.27.38 PMSince I am a Amazon Prime Member, and I am in no particular hurry to receive my Panda Express Gift Card, I chose the No-Rush Shipping and I will also receive a $1 promotional credit towards my next purchase or rental of Amazon Video, digital music, eBooks, apps, digital video games, or digital software.  I often find that items with No-Rush Shipping from Amazon.com usually show up earlier than the advertised date.

If you are not a Prime Member, many of the Gift Cards have e-mail delivery, with most gift cards being delivered via e-mail in less than an hour.

Bottom Line:
I love this new feature allowing me to purchase gift cards with my Amazon.com Gift Card Balance, especially if I want send a quick gift card to a friend or even to myself.  Are any of your favorite retailers or restaurants Gift Cards sold thru Amazon.com? Feel free to comment below.

  1. This is indeed fantastic news! I load up on UR points at Staples with Amazon cards and Visa/MC gift cards when they have their rebate sales… this opens up a whole new avenue!!!

  2. Great new option. But I’m wondering is this any different than buying same cards at Staples/Off Max aside from convenience? Sorry if I’m missing something here.

  3. I buy quite a few gift cards from Staples and Office Depot using my Chase Ink to get 5x the Ultimate Rewards points. By Amazon.com allowing you to purchase ‘third party’ gift cards, this is more of a convenience factor. Load up at Staples and Office Depot of Amazon.com cards, and then have the funds available to me via my Amazon.com account. Amazon.com also seems to have a greater variety of ‘third party’ gift cards than what is found on the racks at office supply stores.

  4. Can an amazon gift card balance be used to buy or send new amazon gift card codes to people?
