Uber is rolling out scheduled rides in Seattle, followed by other top business travel cities. With scheduled rides, you can request your Uber ride 30 days in advance of when you will need it. And if you need to cancel, you can still “cancel anytime before your car is dispatched to pick you up, and after it’s dispatched you can cancel up to 5 minutes (per our normal policy) without a cancellation fee.”
Uber Launching New Scheduled Rides
We get it. Sometimes you want to schedule a pickup in advance so you can rest assured an Uber will be available when you need it, especially if it’s for a 4am ride to the airport. With Scheduled Rides you can request your Uber 30 days to 30 minutes ahead of time and have the comfort of knowing your Uber will be there when it’s time to head out.

Select uberX and tap “Schedule a Ride” to request up to 30 days in advance.
2 Set pickup infoSet your pickup date, time, location, and destination, and get a fare estimate.
3 Confirm your tripConfirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap “Schedule uberX.†You can edit or cancel at any time before your ride is ready.
4 Enjoy your ride
We’ll send you reminders the day of the trip and notify you when your ride is on the way. We’ll also let you know if surge pricing applies.

Such a useless feature, the reasoning behind wanting to schedule rides is so the drivers can know when to be in an area ahead of time. This is just an advanced trigger. Need to have a scheduling system that gives drivers confirmed fares ahead of time and therefore not needing to surge at all. They are just blowing smoke with this.
