Breaking: Reports of Shots Fired at JFK Airport, Terminal 8 and 1

Late Sunday evening, news broke about reported gunshots being fired at two terminals at JFK airport, which were Terminal 1 and Terminal 8.

Per Pix 11 News,

NEW YORK — Police are responding to a call of reported shots fired in JFK Airport Sunday night.

The possible shooting happened at Kennedy Airport’s Terminal 8 around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported hearing two shots fired in the terminal. No police officers heard the shots.

Police are evacuating the area while they search for a suspect. No injuries have been reported.

Around 10:15, panic erupted in Terminal 1 with another report of shots fired.

Photos posted to social media show Terminal 8 being evacuated.

Airline passengers tweeted that their flights were being diverted from the airport, with one passenger saying his flight was diverted to Buffalo.

Police are also closing streets in the area.

Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.

Police do not have a suspect at this time.

At this time, we don’t know if there are any injuries. Thoughts and prayers with anyone traveling through JFK this evening.
