American Airlines has announced their latest Buy Miles promotion, which is running now through October 31, 2016, where you can earn up to 42,500 bonus American Airlines AAdvantage miles.

With this new offer if you wanted to buy 100,000 American AAdvantage miles, meaning you’d receive the 42,500 bonus, for a total of 142,500 miles for $2,884, which includes the 10% discount, which comes out to about 2.02 cents per mile, which isn’t that bad of a deal if you know how to leverage your American AAdvantage miles.

AAdvantage members must purchase at least 20,000 AAdvantage miles or more in a single transaction from the Buy or Gift Miles program beginning 7:00:00 am CT on September 27, 2016 to 11:59:59 pm CT October 31, 2016, to be eligible for bonus miles (purchase 20,000 miles or more by midnight CT on October 3rd to receive a 10% discount on the mileage cost). The applicable bonus miles are awarded to the recipient for Gift Miles transactions. The bonus miles earned are calculated based on each individual purchase amount and the corresponding bonus award. Bonus miles earned do not count toward the annual limits. The discount applies to the AAdvantage miles purchased and does not apply towards taxes or the $30 transaction processing fee.

Bottom Line

Always do the math to make sure it makes sense for you to purchase miles, but with this deal, buying American AAdvantage miles at 2.02 cents per mile isn’t that bad of deal, and something I would consider, however you must purchase by October 3, 2016 to save the ezra 10% to get this price.
