Delta Air Lines is moving terminals at LAX in May, as they move to their new home of Terminal 2 and 3. With this move, the airline will then cause a ripple effect for a total of 21 airlines that will be shuffled around from Terminals 2, 3, 5, 6 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

These terminal changes will take place from May 12-17 as the airlines start moving around, so allow plenty of extra time if you’re planning on flying from LAX over those dates.

Per Delta,

Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will orchestrate one of the largest terminal moves in the history of commercial aviation when Delta relocates from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in May, and Delta customers will reap the benefits from day one.

The move, scheduled to start on May 12, will impact 21 airlines during a one-week period and is a precursor to the Delta Sky Way at LAX, Delta’s $1.9 billion plan to modernize, upgrade and connect Terminals 2, 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX over the next seven years.

Some highlights of Delta’s new terminals include 2 brand new Delta Sky Clubs, 21 gates for Delta and new concessions including Shake Shack, so you’ll no longer need to hop on a rental car shuttle to hop over to In-N-Out Burger.

In addition to Delta, the following airlines will be moving terminals:

Air Canada, Allegiant, Avianca, Boutique Air, Copa, Frontier, Hainan, Hawaiian, InterJet, JetBlue, Qatar, Southwest Airlines (international flights), Spirit, Sun Country, Thomas Cook, Virgin America, Virgin Australia, Volaris, WestJet and XL France.

Overall I think these changes make sense, but it will be a long process for all airlines to relocate and fully be up and running. Once Delta moves terminals, they will then be renovating the terminal so this is only the beginning for them.
