If you have an eligible AAdvantage® credit card, American Airlines has released reduced mileage awards for April – July, 2017. The discount you’ll receive varies from 1,000 miles to 7,500 miles depending on the card that you have, the route and the class of service you want to book. This may be of interest to some who are planning on redeeming some American miles. This promotion is a little complicated because there are a couple different scenarios, so check out the full details on their site for more info.

  1. So you get the same benefit whether you hold an $89 annual fee Aviator Red Card or a $450 annual fee Citi Executive card? Oh, that has got to have the Citi folk seeing Red!

  2. Reduced mileage awards are nothing short of a lie. Good luck trying to find ANY reasonable MileSaaver awards these days.

  3. My AA Citibank MasterCard card automatically gives 10% miles back (build in benefit promo) for all Advantage miles award redemptions. So if I book 80,000 mile ticket, I get 8000 miles credited back. Doubtful that AA/Citibank would be willing to credit me up to another 7500 miles even though my card type shows eligible.
