Back in November 2013, I wrote about a class action lawsuit that was brought against Southwest Airlines seeking damages related to of all things, DRINK COUPONS. If you were a reader of Points, Miles and Martinis back then, thank you! And if you submitted a claim, be sure to check to see if you too scored big!
My Replacement Southwest Drink Vouchers Arrived 3 Years Later….
As previously posted….A class action lawsuit was brought against Southwest to seek damages related to their…drink coupons. That is right. Frequent Flyers like their drinks so much, they are willing to go to court!
A Settlement has been proposed in a class action lawsuit seeking damages for Class Members who received Southwest drink coupons through the purchase of a Business Select ticket prior to August 1, 2010, but did not redeem those drink coupons for a free drink.
Included in this Settlement are Southwest customers who received a drink coupon with the purchase of a Business Select ticket prior to August 1, 2010, and did not redeem the drink coupon.
The Settlement will provide Class Benefits, including Replacement Drink Vouchers, to Class Members who submit timely and valid Claim Forms.
Your legal rights are affected whether you act, or don’t act.
You are entitled to one Replacement Drink Voucher for every drink coupon that you report on your Claim Form that you received, but did not redeem, through your purchase of a Business Select Southwest ticket prior to August 1, 2010, subject to audit by Southwest pursuant to its records. You do not need to still have the actual unredeemed drink coupons in your possession in order to submit a Claim. If you no longer have your unredeemed drink coupons, you can still submit a Claim, verifying the number of drink coupons that you did not redeem. You will not receive Replacement Drink Vouchers for Rapid Rewards drink coupons that you received, but did not redeem.
So what does this mean? Frequent Flyers like their drinks! Claim submissions were due on September 2, 2013 and drink certificates will be sent sometime in the future.
So how much do you like your drink certificates? Enough to file a class action lawsuit? Oh, I already know the answer to that question for the majority of Points, Miles & Martinis readers. Here’s a better question. When do you anticipate receiving your replacement drink certificates?
When booking Southwest flights, make sure to use a card that will earn you bonus points on your airline purchase, like the The Platinum Card® from American Express which earns you 5X points for flights booked directly with airlines. Or consider the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express which earns you 3X points for flights booked with airlines!
Post a comment if you too received yours….
