The biggest benefits of this card include a $150 statement credit when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months.

But, what really sets this card apart is that you earn 6% ($6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%) cash back on U.S. supermarkets and 3% cash back on U.S. gas stations and select U.S. department stores. This card is good for everyday spend! With no annual fee for the first year, this is big!

New No Fee 1st Year Card Special Offer!

If you spend $60 a week at U.S. supermarkets, you could earn over $180 back per year with The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express!

Bottom Line

This special offer on The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is nice in that the annual fee is waived for the first year. The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express offers 6% cash back on U.S. supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%) and 3% cash back on U.S. gas stations and select U.S. department stores. I like this card because you can really rack up the cash back when you use it for everyday spend. The categories of the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express don’t rotate so, that definitely makes it less complicated. I think that this card has merit because of the potential to earn cash back. There are also a lot of other benefits of being an American Express cardholder in general like Amex Offers for You, that add to the value in a big way.

  1. did amex offer a $250 bonus for the BCP before? as the bonus is only earned once, should i wait for that offer to come back?

  2. I had the Blue Cash card and upgraded to the Blue Cash Preferred via the Amex website and then got an email 3 days later with the $150 statement credit promotion to upgrade my Blue Cash. Geez. Called Amex and they can’t apply the promotion. Poop me.
