Per American Airlines,

American Airlines is giving its customers more access to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) from the Midwest and Texas. New service from PHL to San Antonio begins Feb. 15, 2018, followed by service to Des Moines, Iowa; Madison, Wis.; and Omaha, Neb., May 4, 2018. And effective March 25, 2018, one PHL-LAX frequency will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering West Coast customers better access to PHL and American’s transatlantic service.

American recently announced new service to Prague and Budapest from PHL, allowing connections from these new cities to American’s expanding European footprint. American serves 116 destinations from PHL with nearly 400 daily departures.

American has made it clear that Philadelphia is an important hub for them so these new domestic routes will help not only feed their new Budapest and Prague service, but will allow connections for many of their Transatlantic flights based on these flight times.

  1. not if you live in Philly – PHL is soon to be AA’s northeast heart! (wrong word? AA doesn’t have much of a heart). i’ve got to imagine that upgrades to/from LAX will be much easier to come by on the A330 vs the usual A321
