Delta Sky Club LAX Restricting Admittance Due to Capacity

Here’s a first for me, I was at the Delta Sky Club at LAX at Terminal 3, right after the Thanksgiving weekend and noticed a long line to enter the club. It turns out there was a Sky Club agent outside the club, saying that they were not accepting any new guests at this time due to being at capacity, and we needed to wait for guests to leave before anyone else would be allowed to enter.

Ultimately, I waited about 15 minutes to be allowed to get in, however some passengers left as they didn’t want to wait. If you’re wondering if they gave any priority to Sky Club members or Diamond Medallions, they did not.

Delta recently moved their operations to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at LAX, and ultimately both terminals will be completing renovated with brand new more expansive clubs in each, as this is the former Virgin America lounge at LAX.

Has anyone ever had to wait to enter a Delta Sky Club before? This was definitely a first for me!

  1. Was just in the lounge over the weekend and it is a dump. Not worth waiting in line for as the restrooms in the terminal are much cleaner and seating/power outlet situation isn’t too bad either.

  2. This used to happen often at the Delta Sky Club in B prior to the new one opening up as it was tiny and on the same floor as the terminal.

I’ve also seen this happen at the Centurion at SFO and the Korean/Sky Team lounge at LAX TBIT in the past.

  3. Recent observations during our travels:

    – IAH United Club (near Gate C-1): Refused admittance to people with one-time UA Club Pass.
    – IAH Royal Crown KLM: denied admittance to for people with PPS card.
    – DFW “The Club” (Terminal D) with listed capacity at 384 people had a one-hour waitlist for people with PPS card.

  4. Happened to me two Fridays ago. Being a Los Angeles-based DL flyer the whole situation isn’t ideal, but it’s tolerable with the understanding that improvements will be made next year.

  5. I will never forget the time, flying international business class on NW out of Seattle, and I sat on the floor in the lounge. Really! and then the bartender cut me off cause there was a three drink limit, and she was pouring doubles. Not that I requested (or noticed) that.
