In this post I”ll detail my stay at the Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz Carlton partner hotel.  This is the last stay of a two week trip to Madrid, Mallorca, Rioja and Barcelona using points from 3 hotel programs and miles from US Airways to stay completely free and fly first class on Lufthansa.

Trip Report

  1. Flight From Orlando to Madrid on Lufthansa (LH) in First Class
  2. Westin, Madrid
  3. Hilton Sa Torre, Mallorca
  4. Castillo Hotel Son Vida, Mallorca
  5. Marques de Riscal, Elciego
  6. Hotel Arts (Ritz Carlton), Barcelona

The Room / Hotel

After staying 2 nights at the Marques de Riscal in Elciego, we took the train from Logrono down to Barcelona.  I would recommend against taking this long and boring 4 hour train ride.  Then the taxi took about 30 minutes to get from the train station to the Hotel Arts.  At arrival we were promptly checked in to a room overlooking the marina.  Staying on Marriott points for three nights, we did not expect much in way of upgrades, but I do think a room with a view classified as an upgrade.  The room appeared very modern and very clean.  The pool was a fantastic break from the beach and activity of the city.  There was a huge piece of art work by pool, you can see in a picture below.  There were plenty of chairs at the pool, but in the early afternoon it filled up fast.  The view from the Spa on the top floor was fantastic. We ate at the Enoteca Restaurant and went back for a second time because we liked it so much.

Beach Area Near Hotel Arts

The beach in front of the Hotel Arts was very busy, we preferred spending time at the pool.  Down the beach from the Hotel Arts is the W Barcelona.  We visited the W rooftop bar and were able to see the Hotel Arts in the distance.  We checked out the W pool and beach but were happy with our decision at the Ritz Carlton partner hotel.

Perfect Ending

Our last night, and wedding anniversary, I pulled some strings and had a spectacular firework show put on display just for us, atleast that is what Mrs Weekly Flyer thinks;).  We had a perfect view from our hotel room.

Bottom Line

Using Marriott points at the Hotel Arts Ritz Carlton partner hotel was a fantastic way to end a two week trip in Spain.  I would recommend this hotel over the W.  The W is all the way at the end of the beach towards the port entrance and didn’t have much else to do but stay at the hotel.  There were plenty of things to do near the Hotel Arts and it was in the center of the beach area bars, had a casino attached to hotel, and restaurants that stayed open.

  1. @ Pablo,
Yes we were surprised. Check out my blog post on the Hotel Son Vida and let me know if you have any questions.

  2. Just had to say we love that last photo of the heart shaped firework. I’ve got to say, it looks like I used some serious travel capital to pull that one off 😀
