The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is offering a signup bonus of 40,000 Chase Ultimate Reward points.  Signing up for this card, and meeting the spending requirements, is a great way to earn points that can be used for airline tickets or hotel stays. Once you earn the sign up bonus, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Reward points to a number of airlines including new transfer partner United, a Star Alliance partner.

This year I’m trying to diversify away from SkyTeam partner miles and into Star Alliance partner United Airlines. I was able to take advantage of the new United transfer option to move my points into United’s Mileage Plus program. Â I already had a large balance with United from activity with two 2009 Hyatt promotions where you earned 2,500 & 5,000 miles with each Hyatt stay. So when I had a chance to acquire 40,000 additional points from Chase Sapphire card, I jumped on it. The card itself is actually a pretty cool looking dark blue hard metal that gets attention when you use it.

Other benefits Include
- No Foreign Transaction Fees
- No Annual fee for the first year, a $95 value
- Annual 7% dividend on earned points, even on points redeemed
- Transfer points to partners at a 1:1 value
Transfer Partners
Transfer Partners include a number of airline and hotel partners. I don’t see equal value in transferring between these programs, so it would be nice to see transfer bonuses in the future. Â All partners allow transfers at a 1:1 ratio.
Bottom Line
This card is a great card because of the 2 points per dollar earning rate for travel and dining. Â In addition, you can transfer to a number of partners at a 1:1 ratio. Â Plus you can earn the 40,000 bonus points. Â There is no annual fee for the first year. Â But keep in mind your credit is one of your most important assets.

Hello what do u mean when u say”i don’t see equal value in transfering” does that mean if u want to use10,000.00 points to transfer partners they actually honor a lesser amount or it carries a lesser value? Thank u. This is a great site.
What I mean is not all tranfer partners miles / points are the same value. Say you transfer 25 k to United and 25 k to Marriott. You’ll have 25k in both of those programs but I think the transfer to Marriott is not a good tranfer (unless to top off your account for an award) because their points are worth less.
