Considering My Next Credit Card Apps – 60k Continental And 55k Delta Gold

I’ve recently received two credit card offers in the mail that I find interesting. One is for 60k Continental miles with the Continental OnePass Plus card and the other is for 55k with the Delta Gold Business card. I’m looking for earning opportunities since I burned a ton of miles in 2011 and only took advantage of 2 card offers in 2011 (offer 1, offer 2). While I’m on the fence with these two offers, they could get me off to a great start in 2012.

60k Continental And 55k Delta Gold

Chase’s Continental OnePass Plus Card 60k Offer

  • Apply for the OnePass Plus card by February 15, 2012 using personalized invitation number received in mail offer
  • Earn 50,000 Continental miles after first purchase
  • Earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $25,000 on card in a calendar year
  • Two miles per dollar spent on Continental / United tickets
  • One mile per dollar on other spend
  • Two United Club passes each year
  • Free first checked bag for you and companion

American Express’s Delta Gold Business Card 55k Offer

  • Apply for the Delta Gold Business card by January 31, 2012
  • Earn 25,000 Delta miles miles after first purchase
  • Earn 30,000 Delta miles after you spend $10,000 on card within first 6 months
  • Bonus miles do not count towards Medallion status
  • Two miles per dollar spent on Delta tickets
  • One mile per dollar on other spend

Bottom Line

I’m on the fence if I should apply for these two cards or not. I’m leaning towards the Continental because the card will likely go away once Continental no longer exists. I’m leaning towards the Delta card because it is a large sign up bonus and I fly Delta often. What do you think, should I go for them both, just one or hold out for something better?

Comments

  1. I would definitely include the CO card but that Delta card is just too much spend. I ended up going with a Delta Gold Amex card that was 45k miles after $1k spend.

  2. Can U share the codes with your readers ?

If you,ve had a Continental card in the last year and have canceled, can U still qualify for the bonus miles

  3. Does the CO application link work for you? I tried typing in the invitation number we have from our mailer and it says “unable to verify info”. Perhaps the systems aren’t in sync yet?

  4. Hi Gee – I cannot.

    Hi Kaiserpeds – Yes.

MillionMile – I’m waivering against the Delta one for three reasons. 1) I already have a large bank of DL miles, and 2) the spend requirement is fairly high, 3) Would like to save credit pulls in case a large bonus comes up in Q1.
