If you use your American Express Starwood Preferred Guest card and use your Starwood number you will earn 2 Starpoints per dollar spent from American Express AND 2 Starpoints for being a Starwood Preferred guest member.

I called American Express and confirmed that a purchase will earn 4 points per dollar. Also, I asked that since my Starwood number is attached to my card if that would count as “entering” my member number. They confirmed that if you have the card and a SPG member number associated with the card, you’ll earn 4 points per dollar spent at the W Hotel store.
