Delta Elite Upgrade Dilemma And ATL Sky Club A Terminal Pictures

Yesterday my wife and I both flew from ATL to JAX on Delta. We were hoping for a double upgrade since I am Diamond Elite and my wife is Gold Elite with Delta. My upgrade cleared at the Diamond upgrade window and she was left to play the gate upgrade lottery. This is where the dilemma started.

We arrived at the A terminal Delta Sky Club lounge (courtesy of Diamond status) about an hour and a half early. There was still hope at this point. With two available seats in First, it looked promising we’d both be sitting next to each other in the big chairs upfront.

Fast forward to boarding time both available First seats were scooped up by Platinums. So what is a guy to do with his upgrade when his wife (who is also expecting) is sated back in coach Our normal deal is we rotate upgrades except for flights over 3 hours, where she pulls the trump card. Being the gentleman I am, I happily gave her my boarding pass and off to coach I was. There was never a doubt I would give up my seat. You know what they say, ‘Happy wife, happy life’.

The new Sky Clubs are really looking nice. Here are a few pictures of the A terminal lounge. These new red chairs are my favorite.

  1. Come on, Delta still does an ‘average’ to ‘below average’ job with their Sky Club Lounges.

imo…either upgrade the snacks or simply eliminate them!

  2. I’m not saying they are awesome. Just that they are leaps and bounds above where they are. I posted about my experience in the Lufthansa Senator lounge in my Spain trip report. http://pntsmlsmartini.wpengine.com/2010/09/back-from-spain-here-is-my-trip-report-of-a-two-week-trip-to-madrid-mallorca-rioja-and-barcelona

Those lounges are proper lounges. Sipped Tattinger champagne, took a nap, shower, and had a fullcourse meal.

But the Delta Sky Clubs offer free drinks and a quiet place. Plus they are complimentary for Diamond members. With the new design and interriors, you can’t say they are not nicer then they have been, can you?

  3. Fine information and facts! I have been browsing for anything like this for a while currently. Excellent!
