The Points, Miles and Martini’s Team Has Grown

To continue the momentum, we’ve recently added Alex to the Points, Miles and Martinis team. You’ll notice a post from him when the “posted by” under the title says Alex vs The Weekly Flyer.

Alex loves to travel. He does it a lot and does it well.  He’s logged over 100,000 flight miles for the past 4 years. Alex uses points and miles to power his passion. He has a slightly different approach to travel that The Weekly Flyer. He strives to experience the far reaches of the globe.

He’s already shared with us a few trips among many other things.

Alex has confessed to being a 2 year Boarding Area lurker, reading the blogs daily and learning so much but not knowing how and where best to contribute. Alex’s lurking past and knowing there are many of you like him out there, has inspired us to launch our next Giveaway.

  1. I’d like to know the best Hyatt Hotels as a newly minted Platinum. I’ve been a bit spoiled by traveling with diamonds and realize that those lovely lounges aren’t free for me but I have a couple of free nights and some suite upgrades coming my way. Would love suggestions for properties you would do well with at the Platinum level.

  2. I love the travel stories the most and to be honest I really dislike nothing. Although I’m anxiously awaiting the climax to the Barrow, AK story!!!

  3. I like hearing about the latest deals on all miles & points (especially free or almost free miles and points). I really don’t dislike anything, other than sometimes I read the same info on all the blogs, but that is just the nature of the blogging points world. Creative ways to use points or interesting destinations is always nice, since I only go somewhere based on award availability these days.

  4. A lot of great content, but much of it is repeat from other blogs. I would love to see more unique material.

  5. More hotel reviews and photos. One less drink recipe per month. Hahah
    Thanks for the giveaways too

  6. Like the others said, more on getting/using hotel points. Drink stuff is fine (but I drink mainly wine and beer). Info about taking short trips is also appreciated.

  7. Love all of the great info.
How about more analysis? for example your detailed thought process on how you took advantage of a deal from Credit card sign up to travel to destination selection .

  8. Like what Alex has been adding as a plus. Focus on less repetition (if possible) of other blogs as most of the time they are too quick!

  9. I like hearing about trips…especially for those places I probably won’t ever go! Let’s me escape for a moment!

  10. Agreed with Mike: less Martinis, more Miles and points. Though I wouldn’t mind martinis as “add-ons” to the miles and points posts. And as always, I love trip reports!

  11. 1) My favorite part about the blog is the trip reports and hotel reviews. I find this blog to have the most extensive and comprehensive trip reviews. It is extemely helpful in planning upcoming trips of my own. You seem to often get great rooms (of course having status is a given), but are there any tips/tricks to getting better rooms at hotels?
    2) Probably my least favorite posts are the drink posts.

  12. Out of the box thinking…both for getting and redeeming points…along with unusual and different trips.

  13. Wow, I guess you can disregard my opinion since its a little against the grain. While I enjoy the reports on points and hotels, I prefer the everyday stories about drinks and travel experience much more.
A beautiful hotel with an upgraded room is still a lonely place if you have no idea how to enjoy it. Give me more funny everyday traveler stories to which I can relate.

  14. 1. More specifics on specific unique drinks and drink specials at the places you stay. Also if there are craft/unique beers of where you stay, pics of those would be neat as well.

    2. I’d like to see less of nothing. 🙂

  15. Martini Recipes unique to each destination…. Honestly I love your blog just the way it is…. Cheers…

  16. Love the earning hotel points tips and tricks. Would like fewer trip reports.

I do like the cocktail recipes. It encourages me to get out of the habit of ordering the same thing over and over. I noticed yesterday’s Mint Julep and realized I still have never tried one.

  17. Please do more posts on expert tips / tricks on how to get miles and points I like this the most.

Please try to do less material which is covered by other bloggers. The repitition of material by bloggers in this unique niche is starting to devalue some bloggers value.

  18. Love the blog and loved meeting you on the OWMD (I was in seat 1A). As discussed when we met, I love the drinks information as it is unique, however, I think there should be less of the drinks, and more unique content: how to find cheap airfares, use award miles most effectively, etc.

  19. I would suggest more trip reports or previews/reviews of new, exciting places to travel.

I would suggest less of the drinks recipes (I understand its part of the blog name but I’m here to read about travel)

  20. What do you like the most about the blog? I like that you have a lot of up to date information on loyalty programs offers/promotions and airline news updates.

What do you like the least about the blog? The thing I like least about the blog is that you don’t have more great give aways like this :@) ThankX!

  21. What do you like the most about the blog?
    Deal Analysis, Luxury Trip
What do you like the least about the blog?
Business trip with mundane hotels, soul searching articles

  22. I like hotel/flight reviews and would love to see more of those.

As others suggested, I can do without the martinis.

  23. 1. I like most, the information you provide about all things travel
    2. the thing I least like is “martinis”, don’t care for them. I’m a Beer guy.

  24. Love the trip reports, especially the ones that relate to my aspirational travel. Could do without the weekly drink updates, especially when I am somewhere that I can’t have one!

  25. Would love to see more timely deal reports, and also, when subscribe via email, have email going out as your blog becomes available rather than once a daily kind of emails.
