American Express is running a promotion where you can get $5 off any purchase of $5 or more at a participating small business during the month of August in five selected cities: Houston, Sacramento, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Philadelphia and Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Although American Express said that registration is limited, registration is still open here.

The promotion, which covers up to three $5 statement credits (so $15 per registered card), is as easy as 1, 2, 3 ….

Statement credits from American Express is one of the easiest promotions to take advantage of. If you don’t live in (or travel to) one of the five selected cities, the only hard part is getting there to take advantage of the $5 statement credits.
