Ocean Club Paradise Island Bahamas – One And Only

One of my all time favorite resorts is the One & Only Bahamas Paradise Island. It’s the place where everything is always “my pleasure” to serve the guest. An amazing beach, great food, good golf, and a casino only a complimentary Escalade drive away. What’s not to like?

The resort grounds are amazing! The grass is groomed and everything has it’s place. We typically stay in the Hartford Wing and always hope for an ocean view on the second of two floors. When you get this view it is priceless.

Breakfast on the balcony is a must. Fresh juices, pastries and made to order omelette’s never disappoint.

A day by the beach is your best bet for relaxation. The water is crystal clear and with exception of a few weeks in Hurricane season, the waves are non existent.

Taking an afternoon nap is on our schedule most days. With a fantastic room, constant room service and a butler at your finger tips, you never have to worry about your bed being un-made.

I typically request strawberries and Champagne to be delivered in the evening and water throughout the day. Occasionally I ask for coffee delivered to the room, always French press, after a long night. But it’s hard to stay in the room when you have the Dune Restaurant just a few hundred yards away.

Check out this view from the Dune Restaurant. It’s hard to beat.

Evenings are spent getting ready for one of many restaurants on the island or over on Nassau. Grey Cliffs (with the second largest wine collection in the world), Dune, Cafe Martinique are a few of our favorites.

But we never have dinner without seeing Shamika in “The Library” for a cocktail. The library is where they filmed the casino scene from Casino Royal. It’s not a casino but more of a place for cocktails or afternoon snacks. I’ve run into Newt Gingrich and Sharon Stone in the Library before but it’s such a quiet place no one noticed.

The pool at the resort has always been a highlight though woefully small for the resort. They are in the process of upgrading the pool facilities. But from what it used to look like, it was a nice place to chill in the late afternoon and catch some sun and grab a few drinks.

Bottom Line

The Ocean Club Paradise Island Bahamas is truly a one and only experience. I always recommend this for close friends looking for a quick getaway. The price is steep, but if you are a table player, the comps can knock the price down a bit.

Have you ever been to a One & Only property in the past? Which one did you go to and what did you think?

  1. Your report is 100% glowing. To offer a remotely credible review, you might add a few areas where the property could improve.

Less than 0.01% of hotels worldwide deserve such perfect a review. Of those, none are in the Caribbean. I hear a lot of reports of “island time” being particularly problematic here. Did that factor in to your stay at all? Were there bugs? Any ne’er-do-wells on the beach, or was it completely private?

You might also correct “omelette’s.” Omelette wasn’t used as a possessive making use of an apostrophe incorrect.

  2. One & Only Paradise Island is rhe fanciest resort I was ever kicked out of in 2012.

I was their one and only undesirable guest, er more accurately not a guest.

Security did not even let me leave through the front door. I had to walk quite a way to get back to the beach.
