I just opened my Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN statement this morning to find a change to my OPEN benefit coming for my card January 1, 2015!

5% Discount With American Express Open Benefits At Hertz

The OPEN savings benefit for eligible purchases at Hertz will be changing to a straight 5% discount credited to your account vs. the previous tiered structure of 3% on the first $500, 5% over $500 to $2000 and 10% discount over $2,000 spent in a calendar year with Hertz.

This 5% discount definitely streamlines the OPEN benefit in my mind. This is just another reminder of this great benefit from American Express OPEN. I definitely don’t rent cars that often and wasn’t over the $2,000 spend this year so, I will likely benefit from the flat 5% at Hertz.

I recently utilized the OPEN benefit with Hyatt and saved a lot of money! I will post about this particular situation next to highlight how much money these OPEN benefits can save you on travel!

Bottom Line

Don’t forget about the great benefits from your American Express business cards like Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN. I haven’t spent a lot of time trying to maximize these discounts but, plan to do more this coming year to save money!
