Delta Reserve Credit Card Review

Delta Reserve Card Benefits

Companion Travel

The companion certificate entitles the owner to save a bunch of money each year by booking one flight and getting the second one for free. You’ll get a domestic First Class or Economy Class Companion certificate each year upon renewal. This is one of the best benefits of the Delta Reserve Card in my opinion other than the ability to earn Medallion Qualifying Miles (up to 30,000 MQMs per year) with miles boost.

For some of the common questions and answers about the Companion Certificate, check out our detailed post here explaining some of the more common questions and answers.

2x Miles For Every Dollar Spent At Delta

For every dollar spent on Delta purchases, you’ll earn 2x miles per dollar and 1x miles per dollar on all other purchases. This benefits doesn’t excite me because I can always earn 3x miles per dollar with the

. So if you are looking to maximize miles / points earned per dollar spent on airfare, the

is better for those purposes.

Miles Boost & Gifting MQMs

The Miles Boost benefit is by far my favorite benefit of the Delta Reserve card. Whether you plan on adding the bonus MQMs to your account or gifting them to a friend or family, the easiest thing you can do to get Delta elite status quicker is to add MQMs to your account earned from the Delta Reserve card. If you’ve never added MQMs from the card, click here and read my step by step review on how to add the MQMs to an account.

Free Checked Bag

The Delta Reserve card offers a free first checked bag.

Priority Boarding

You’ll be able to board with the priority boarding which gets you on the plane faster and gives you better access to the store your bag in the overhead bins.

COMPLIMENTARY Delta Sky Club® Access

The Delta Reserve card offers complimentary access to the Delta Sky Club for you when you are traveling with Delta.

Upgrade Priority

With the Delta Reserve card, you’ll receive upgrade priority over those who don’t have the Delta Reserve Card Members as long as they are in the same or less Medallion level and fare class.

Bottom Line

I am currently a Delta Platinum Medallion and one of the ways that I am able to maintain my status is through spending $60,000 every year on the card since I earn 15,000 MQMs after spending $30,000 and another 15,000 MQMs after spending 60,000 making this my favorite card to spend your way to Medallion status.

You also earn double miles on all Delta purchases and SkyClub access for yourself when traveling on Delta. In addition, you receive a Delta Companion ticket good for either a First Class or Economy ticket, so this alone could be worth it, if you were to use for a First Class ticket.

  1. After the recent devaluation (upgrades for transcon flights), is Platinum status worth it? Also, can you get a Delta Reserve personal and business as well as Delta Platinum personal and business for the same individual?
