According to Bloomberg and sources close to the airline, United may be planning to announce the acquisition of 10 Boeing 777-300ER jetliners.

Currently United has 74 Boeing 777 jetliners in it’s fleet, but they don’t have any of the 777-300ER models. Bloomberg speculates that if United announces now, they’ll get a good price on the planes because it would prevent Boeing from having to cut production rates at their 777 production line in Washington.

United 777-300ER

If United is planning to announce the purchase of 10 777-300ERs this would be interesting as it would be the first purchase of the 777-300ER model, but also interesting to see what they do with their current 35 orders for the new Airbus A350-1000.
