It’s hard to top an upgrade to first class after a long week. But, Delta has a way of making the Big Seat upfront (or comfort+ in the back) just a bit better with what I think is the best Happy Hour drink you can find in the sky.

PMM Happy Hour: Best Drink In The Sky on MD88

This PMM happy hour is brought to you courtesy of a Delta Platinum upgrade to First Class = complimentary drink city.

The Woodford Reserve is 45.2% alcohol, but hits the lips with a sweet savory taste from their Shively Kentucky Distilery. I enjoyed a glass while I viewing a nice sunset on this particular flight.

The drink comes served straight up or on the rocks. Pre-departure it comes in a plastic cup but I prefer the taste from an actual glass at 35,000 ft from up above.

Bottom Line

The Beverage Tasting Institute gives it high marks:

The Beverage Testing Institute has given the Woodford Reserve scores of between 90 and 91 and Wine Enthusiast awarded it a 90-95 point rating.

I’m confident that if you give it a try in the air you’ll find it’s one of the best drinks in the sky. Here’s hoping this one lasts longer than Delta’s last award pricing chart lasted.

What is your favorite drink in the sky and why?

  1. Completely agree. Was recently upgraded to 1st by a very conscientious stewardess after a long wait in the JFK International Terminal security line (pre-check was closed) and then a 30-gate ride and 25-gate run that should have resulted in a missed flight.
When asked what drink I preferred I requested scotch, which they were out of. The very nice stewardess offered me the Woodford, and given the circumstances of the introduction I agree it’s the best!!
