We recently wrote about Uber Slashing Prices in 100 Cities Nationwide, well in addition, Uber also announced some good news for those in NYC, who take Ubers from Newark Airport, since they are lowering UberX fares by an average of 50%.

Here’s what Uber has to say:

  • SAVE WHEN YOU RIDE FROM NEWARK AIRPORT
  • We’ve dropped uberX and uberXL fares from Newark Airport by an average of 50%!
  • Take a look at the sample fares below to see savings on trips from Newark Airport to popular destinations.

Here’s some of the new lower fares from Newark:Screen Shot 2016-01-19 at 9.49.59 AM

In this above example, you could take UberX from Newark to Jersey City, and then take the PATH train across the Hudson to Manhattan for an additional $2.75, making this a nice alternative.

Another option is from Newark to Midtown Manhattan in UberX, which is being estimated now at $44. Note, that this is much less than an UberX from New York’s (JFK) to Midtown Manhattan, so it’s something to consider.

Bottom Line

I personally am a big Uber fan, so this latest announcement about Uber loweing prices from Newark is a great one, as it’s a great option when flying into NYC.

If you haven’t tried Uber yet, you can get a free ride (up to $20 here.)

Will this latest announcement increase your likelihood to fly into Newark rather than JFK now, when headed to Manhattan? Feel free to comment below.

  1. lower base fares but more frequent surge times to get drivers willing to work. Drivers hate picking up from Newark even under the higher fare schemes. Good luck getting one now.
