Why Does This Club Lounge Not Serve Appetizers on the Weekend

On a recent trip to the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, see Hotel Review: Marriott Marquis Washington, DC Executive Suite, I was given access to the M Club Lounge, which all Gold and Platinum Marriott Rewards members get, but I noticed something strange about the hours.

If you look at the hours, the hours are as follows:

Breakfast: Monday-Friday 6-9am, Saturday-Sunday 7-10am
Hors D’oeurves: Sunday-Thursday 5-7:30pm

So well they serve breakfast every day in the lounge including weekends, they don’t serve hors d’oeurves on Friday and Saturday. I’m honestly perplexed about this, as I know some lounges close on the weekend, but it makes no sense to keep it open for breakfast but then not to have appetizers.

It’s not like the rates are less for the M Club level rooms since they don’t serve appetizers. And the lounge is open 24 hours a day, so the lounge is still open but there’s just no food options…

Am I overreacting on this, or do you agree that if the lounge is open for breakfast, they should be serving appetizers as well?

  1. This happens to me at the Marriott Medical Center in Houston. It’s a real bummer coming back from medical appointments on Friday and not being able to relax in the lounge with snacks.

  2. I’ve seen this at a NUMBER of domestic Hilton properties as well. I assume it’s because the lounge doesn’t exist for leisure travelers.

  3. Personally, I can live without the appetizers. I do have two peeves about many hotels on weekends: lounge closed completely on weekends and wedding parties.

  4. I don’t see the connection between serving breakfast and offering hors d’oeuvres. You would think, though, that the Marquis could spell “hors d’oeuvres” properly.

  5. They should offer at least an appetizer vouchers that can be redeemed to the hotel bar / restaurant… But it is better to have the entire lounge operational the entire week
